hello dear english, I'm a frog eater. I've visited your site, which is very nice. I live near Chartreuse Montains and I like hiking. My best Chartreuse trip is " les inscriptions romaines" by the "col de Fontanieu" then descent by "le pas de la mort". Congratulations and welcome in France for your future trip . J-P Lacour

I am french. I live in Grenoble and I know very well the French Alpes (walking, scrambling, ski). I have read this walking guide, and i think it is very well-made. I have found no error, and the maps are exact. Bravo.

Perhaps what you saw is a hummingbird moth; I've seen them in the area.

This is a great site, by the way!!

Decided to stop off on the way to the southern alps and found your site the day before we left. We were inspired so we squeezed in a bit more time there. Even better than your pictures (and the Alps), stopped off again on the way back.

What is the creature that feeds on the geraniums? We couldn't decide if it was a tiny humming bird or a huge insect, it had a long tongue or probiscus and was brown. The lady in the tourist office thought it was an insect but she didn't know its name!

What a surprise! 8

I have just come across your site and I must say that I am very happy to have done so!

A few years ago, I bought an old barn in a little hamlet called Les Claret (just up from St. Pierre d'Entremont). It is about 5 km from Cirque de St Meme. I have been living here for two years converting the barn into gite - also taking time out to walk of course. I am just in the process of creating a site for 'La Grange' which is how I came across your site.

Well done. The site is really excellent
