Perl/PHP/ASP Scripts to Display Web Page Form Data

These simple scripts provide the facility of seeing what values are being sent when a form is submitted from a web page. They allow a web page to be developed in isolation from any server-side software by ensuring that the testing of each is independent.

It requires the form's action attribute to be set to the test script during testing, rather than the script that will eventually handle the form data.

Three variations of the script are included in the download - Perl, PHP, and ASP versions. To use the Perl script move it in your own CGI BIN, giving it execute privileges (on a *nix system, this will require a CHMOD to #755). Alternatively, you may use the script installed on this web site using the following action attribute in your form tag:

action="http://www.braemoor.co.uk/cgi-bin/formtest.cgi"

Try the Perl script:

Alternatively, you may install the PHP script and use that, or use the PHP script installed on the current web site using the following action attribute in your form tag:

action="http://www.braemoor.co.uk/formtest.php"

Try the PHP script:

Favourite Composer: Favourite Artist:

The ASP version works in the same way, and is included in the download, but cannot be demonstrated as this site is hosted on an Apache server.
