This stone lies north of the Burnt Ling Vein about 430 metres from John Young Gate, at a bearing of about 15°. SE 02344 67161 R S & Co F
Comments
This is a 140 cm long fallen stone. A photograph of this stone appears in Raistrick's Lead Mining in the Mid-Pennines showing it still standing, and a drawing appears on page 13 of The Mines of Grassington Moor (See references). Raistrick believed this stone to be on the New Ripon Vein and to be associated with Robert Stockdale & Co who had a number of leases in the 1770s, but it actually seems to mark a meer on a vein crossing the southern end of Castaway Vein.
