Eagle Rock, Brimham Rocks
Hand-painted silk collage 10x7.5 cm, recycled white card mount 20x15 cm.
The Eagle is one of the many unusual millstone grit formations at Brimham Rocks in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire, that the Victorians thought had been sculpted by ancient Druid's rather than the elements.
This collage depicts the rock eagle with wings outstretched in deep brown and purple tones against a dramatic dark orange sky.
I work in silk collage for a crisp line and glowing colour, and strive to convey the atmosphere and drama of Britain's landscapes and monuments.
