St. Michael's Mount, Cornwall
Hand-painted silk collage 10x7.5 cm, recycled white card mount 20x15 cm.
St Michael's Mount is a granite island linked to the Cornish shore by a low tide causeway. Supposedly built by a giant named Cormoran, it is home to a 14th century castle, harbourside community and lush vegetation.
I have depicted this wonderful place in dark turquoise and brown tones against a deep orange sunset.
I work in silk collage for a crisp line and glowing colour, and strive to convey the atmosphere and drama of Britain's landscapes and monuments.
