A view of Lanyon Quoit worked in silk collage

Lanyon Quoit, Cornwall

Hand-painted silk collage 10x7.5 cm, recycled white card mount 20x15 cm.

Lanyon Quoit is what remains of a neolithic chambered tomb once covered by earth. It is large, sturdy and impressive, standing quiet aside the road from Penzance to Morvah.

This silk collage depicts the quoit in sparkling purple tones against a sky of silver, orange and pink.

I work in silk collage for a crisp line and glowing colour, and strive to convey the atmosphere and drama of Britain's landscapes and monuments.
