A view of Roseberry Topping worked in silk collage

A View of Roseberry Topping , Great Ayton

Hand-painted silk collage 7.5 x 10 cm

This hill rises up alone near Great Ayton on the edge of the Cleveland Hills, its unusual shape being a product of past mining. The hill reminded me of Hokusai's Mount Fuji print, so I worked it as a simple two piece collage.

I work in silk collage for a crisp line and glowing colour, and strive to convey the atmosphere and drama of Britain's landscapes and monuments.
